The 2027 International Conference on Earth Science, Environmental Engineering, and Urban Planning was held in Nanchang, advocating for "viewing cities from river basins and framing the situation with ecology". The conference brings together scholars in geology, geography, hydrology, environment, civil engineering, and planning, as well as housing, water conservancy, and natural resources departments and design institutions, to exchange ideas on topics such as the relationship between Poyang Lake and rivers, extreme rainfall and waterlogging, wetland bird habitats, mine restoration, soil and groundwater pollution, carbon neutrality and industrial parks, historical urban area protection, and waterfront space renewal. The agenda features a workshop on problem maps, an open day for monitoring data, model sand table simulations, a youth planning competition, and on-site surveys of the Ganjiang Poyang Lake region, emphasizing the synergy of land use, water, greenery, transportation, and risk in a single map. Nanchang combines the ecological background of lakeside and riverside, red cultural resources, and digital industry conditions such as VR, which can carry scenario simulation and public participation experiments. The conference aims to form a national spatial and engineering governance plan that is oriented towards resilience, low-carbon, and cultural heritage, serving the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Midstream Urban Agglomeration.
